Recognized Programs (BC)
A Recognized Program is an occupation that follows BC provincial standards, includes a work-based and in-school component, and is approved by the Industry Training Authority (ITA). Successful completion of these programs results in the issuance of a BC Certificate of Qualification.
Diesel Engine Mechanic
Diesel Engine Mechanics work in sectors such as marine, construction and transport installing, repairing and maintaining all internal combustion diesel engines and components.
Railway Car Technician
Railway Car Technicians inspect, repair, replace and recondition mechanical or structural components and systems of freight cars and passenger coaches. These individuals must have a mechanical aptitude and hands on skills and be able to use many different types of power, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools or equipment. These technicians work for railway companies or rail car repair facilities.
